where to look in South San Francisco

As you may have read elsewhere on this site, San Mateo County, particularly north county, isn't a hotbed of contemporary design.  However, South San Francisco does have a small neighborhood of early contemporaries, dating from 1946 to 1948.  Part of Rancho Buri Buri (sounds more exotic than it is) along Arroyo, these forty or so homes are scattered among the neat traditional ranchers far more common to the area.  These two- and three-bedroom/one-bath flattops are typical of their era, although they're surprisingly large1140 to 1330 sq.ft.and some have been expanded.  You're firmly in the fog belt here, but the neighborhood is well-maintained if modest, and set in attractive, gently rolling hills.
